Nokia working on Indoor GPS Service

Apparently Nokia wants to launch coverage to the buildings’ internal GPS services. Nokia says that their handsets will launch indoor location services within two years.

Nokia Ovi Suite currently includes maps, driving directions and walking guide and other services. However, detecting the location of indoor outdoor location is far different. In order to build the internal mapping and modeling, Nokia GPS services need wireless operators to install wireless base stations within the building and indoor Wi-Fi hotspots.

When a Nokia mobile device is close to a building, it will work with GPS satellite communications until you get inside the buildings, with the indoor wireless base stations and Wi-Fi hotspots communications. Nokia mobile phones relative to the GPS satellite, wireless base stations and the location of Wi-Fi hot spots to build into a triangle, the Nokia device can be measured in a specific size range, generally 10m.
